Some stories begin in a book

This one began in a magazine in 1983. As a 13-year-old girl, I was reading an article about Michael Jackson, and the interview took place at Hayvenhurst, The Jackson's family home in California.

The images of Michael Jackson at Hayvenhurst published in the magazine inspired a lifelong (and seemingly impossible) dream of one day visiting the Jackson family home in person.

Decades later, that childhood dream became reality when I travelled from the UK to Los Angeles to attend a charity fundraising event at the property, organised by Michael Jackson's eldest son Prince, in aid of his nonprofit, the Heal Los Angeles Foundation.

Little did I know, but this trip would plant the seed for something far bigger.

A small gift that changed everything

On the night of the 'King of Popcorn' fundraising event, I met Prince Jackson and John Muto, both Co-Founders of the Heal Los Angeles Foundation.

As a simple thank-you gesture, I gifted Prince and John a couple of my handmade soap bars wrapped in plantable labels featuring Heal LA's branding that I'd designed especially for them. To be honest, I just thought they'd get a bit of a kick out of it.

However, shortly after returning home, I received a call from John Muto with a request:

"Prince absolutely loves the soaps and wondered if I would consider creating an official Heal LA soap to help support our mission?"

My answer was an immediate 'yes' (obviously)!

How Heal LA 'Makes That Change' for Children in LA

Inspired by his father’s humanitarian work, Prince Jackson co-founded the Heal Los Angeles Foundation with his friend John Muto (pictured here), to support young people in underserved LA communities. Heal LA’s programmes focus on self-care, education, mental wellbeing, physical health, and essential life skills - offering support that builds confidence, resilience, and hope for the future.

Heal LA helps children and teens believe in themselves and their potential - and every Heal LA Soap bar sold helps fund that work.
